Five Cult Series You Should Never Miss

Cult series are never cult for no reason, and below we bring you five that have more than deserved their legendary status.

Over the long, almost ninety-year period that stretches from the first television broadcasts in Great Britain (1936) to the present day, an incredible number of series have been filmed.

However, only a few of them, such as Star Trek, which helped standardize the science fiction genre, the beloved Only Fools and Horses, which popularized the unique British humor to a great extent, or The Sopranos, which at the time proved that it was possible to show a great mafia drama on the small screen that was previously reserved for the big screen, have managed to change the world of television forever and thus deservedly acquire cult status.

Cult series, as the epithet itself says, are series that are definitely worth watching more than once, especially if you have somehow missed them.

Luckily, in both cases, there is your loyal streaming service Pickbox NOW, which currently offers excellent series such as...

1. Agatha Christie's Poirot

How else to start a list of cult series than with one that centers on one of the best detectives in film, television and literary history, the inimitable little Belgian with famous and carefully shaped mustaches, who is (perhaps) only better known than his creator.

We are talking, of course, about the famous Hercule Poirot of the British queen of crime Agatha Christie, who was permanently marked by his acting in the eponymous BBC crime series, in which all true crime lovers will undoubtedly enjoy immensely.

2. Mad Men

The AMC drama series Mad Men began to win the hearts of both audiences and critics almost immediately after the release of its first season in 2007., and how could it not when it comes to a series that abounds in its own unique style.

With the dangerously charming Jon Hamm in the role of the main (anti)hero Don Draper, the faithfully revived New York of the sixties of the last century and the intrigue-filled advertising agency Sterling Cooper, hours and hours of good fun are definitely not to be missed!

3. Midsomer Murders

Midsomer Murders, the famous British crime drama series, has shown, for decades, more or less like good wine ages - gracefully, slowly and attractively.

Originally from the creative mind of award-winning British writer, screenwriter and dramaturge Caroline Graham, whose novel series served as a starting point and inspiration, it is one of those series that deserve evergreen status, or one of those series that we always return to with joy. Marked by a familiar and unusually warm and pleasant atmosphere, well-hit and slightly dark humor and, of course, exciting plots, this is a classic series with which the days will still pass a little faster.

4. Pride and Prejudice

If you have somehow longed for an escape into a somewhat more distant and even more romantic past than New York in the sixties of the last century, you will not go wrong with Pride and Prejudice, a drama miniseries and at the same time a faithful adaptation of the novel by the great Jane Austen.

Inspired acting - especially that of Colin Firth as the self-sacrificing Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as the determined Elizabeth Bennet - high production value and top-notch directing are just some of the reasons why we always love to come back to this adaptation of the classic love story.

5. A Touch of Frost

Finally, there is A Touch of Frost, another crime series of renowned British origin with the infinitely likable David Jason (Delboy from the aforementioned Only Fools and Horses) in the title role of Inspector Frost.

Thanks to the unique combination of mystery, humor and drama united by an unusually relaxing, yet tense atmosphere, A Touch of Frost is a series created for enjoyment on the gray winter evenings that are coming to us!
